10:30-11:00 Policy Analysis: EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and Its Impact on the Chinese Shipping Industry
- EU ETS is a policy tool used by the European Union to combat climate change and effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Including the shipping industry in the EU ETS means that shipping companies operating routes to and from the EU and routes within the EU need to regulate emissions from specific ships and purchase and pay carbon quotas for greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. This session will start with the identification of carbon emissions in the shipping industry, introduce the latest progress, limitations and market influence in the implementation of the EU ETS in the shipping industry, and conduct an in-depth thinking of adapting to the situation and ensuring the global business runs smoothly for the Chinese shipping industry.
